Fotheringay Returns!

The spirit of Fotheringay - the classic band which sprang from the partnership of Sandy Denny and Trevor Lucas - is being re-awoken by a raft of folk legends.

Original members of Fotheringay - Jerry Donahue (left), Gerry Conway (right) and Pat Donaldson (back centre) - unite with Kathryn Roberts (second left), PJ Wright (back right) and Sally Barker (centre) to tour in the UK in June.
The line-up of Fotheringay ‘15 is: original founding members Jerry Donahue on guitar, Gerry Conway on drums, Pat Donaldson on bass with PJ Wright filling the late Trevor Lucas’ shoes and Kathryn Roberts and Sally Barker respectfully filling the shoes of the late Sandy Denny.

Fotheringay was formed in 1970 by Sandy Denny on her original departure from Fairport Convention (she was to rejoin Fairport for a further two years in 1974)Trevor Lucas, Sandy’s husband to be, together with Gerry Conway, Jerry Donahue and Pat Donaldson made up the band which, after only twelve months, disbanded during sessions for a projected second album.

That record was finally completed decades later, as 'Fotheringay 2', by the remaining members of the band, who worked to augment the original studio recordings.

Guitarist PJ Wright will be known to many through his work with Little Johnny England the Dylan Project and new project TradArrr. The three original Fotheringay members have invited Kathryn Roberts (of Roberts & Lakeman) and Sally Barker (former Poozie and finalist in the 2014 BBC programme, ‘The Voice’) to share vocal duties.

Four decades on, the surviving members (Donahue, who has gone on to work with amongst others Joan Armatrading, Chris Rea, The Proclaimers, Nancy Griffith and The Beach Boys), Conway, now Fairport’s mainstay drummer and also, famously long time Cat Stevens band member and Donaldson, (Kate and Anna McGarrigle) are to reunite to perform a handful of concerts and festivals to help promote the release of a limited edition Fotheringay box set.

Tour Dates: June 2015
